The basic idea of human rights is that each one of us, no matter who we are or where we are born, is entitled to the same basic rights and freedoms. That may sound straightforward enough, but it gets incredibly complicated as soon as anyone tries to put the idea into practice. What exactly are the basic human rights? Who gets to pick them? Who enforces them—and how? Benedetta Berti explores the subtleties of human rights.

  1. An “…equal standard of human rights must be recognized and adopted…" “Lay not on any soul a load which ye would not wish to be laid upon you, and desire not for anyone the things ye would not desire for yourselves. This is My best counsel unto you, did ye but observe it.” ~ Baha'i Faith

  2. "Rights" belong to the elite only. If one can not buy their "human rights" they simply have none. The idea of universal human rights is as realistic as the Santa we all (in "western society") once believed was real. Its all a fairy tale.
